Jayne Black is helping to lead the way to bring indoor air quality regulations to school buildings in Wisconsin. Indoor air can be 2 to 5 times sometimes 100 times more polluted than outdoor air. Poor air quality affects our childrens health and ability to learn. Jayne's efforts include writing a consistuant bill AB434 that would require there to be indoor air quality standards and testing in schools. Serving on an Indoor Air Quality Coaliton that is fighting for specific air quality standards. Jayne also serves on her cities Sustainablity Commission and spearheaded a No Idling Campaign for Schools.

An analysis from the environmental advocacy group Clean Wisconsin has found that Wisconsin ranks as the third worst in the country for racial disparities in exposure to harmful air pollution. According to the analysis, people of color in Wisconsin are exposed to 26 percent more harmful particulate matter than white residents.
